Red-tailed Hawk, today in our neighborhood.

Sometimes luck is all that's needed for a view like this. I walked Maggie on the trail this morning and noticed two Red-tailed Hawks in tall trees nearby. One was scraping its bill on a branch, the other one still feeding on prey. My camera was at home! On our way home both sat with their backs to me side-by-side on a branch high above me. At home, without any hope the birds would still be there, I took my camera and returned to the location where I last saw them. When I got closer, they were still in the same location, but suddenly one flew away. This is the other one still sitting high above me. I stayed behind a low tree and got several shots before it also flew away, following its mate.
