Millipede orgy ?

Maybe there is a millipede expert out there who can explain this. My guess is the red blobs are millipede eggs, and this is some sort of group reproduction event.

Native to the highlands of southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, Uruguay, northern Argentina, and Colombia. I first encountered this fruit on a visit to New Zealand. So far, I haven't had much success is getting fruit, but the flowers are quite amazing.
