I think it heard a pack of beagles approaching, so it swam across the pond. You can hear the beagles later in the video. It is rare to see beavers in such good light.

Wonderful to see, thanks for posting. The beaver is being reintroduced here in parts of the UK after being exterminated many years ago.

Thanks, Doug. When I moved here over 20 years ago, there were beavers in this pond, but I hadn't seen any until very recently. There has been an active beaver family in my neighbor's pond a half mile away. I suppose this is one of them that emigrated here.
