I've lived in my current house for around 30 years and we've always had them in the garden. The population seems to stay at around 5 or 6..........they're a nuisance sometimes, but you can't help but like them. We used to have a dray in one of our sycamore trees, but the tree rotted and had to be cut down. I don't know where the squirrels are living now..........but they come nearly every day to eat at the feeders. Some days they have to fight for the food against the wood pigeons, jackdaws and starlings............we spend a fortune on seed, but we mostly stop feeding in the spring when more natural food is available.

I don't know how much we spend on sunflower seeds, but I figure it is worth it for the entertainment the birds and squirrels give us. I feed them all year long.
