The Second Labour of Hercules - slaying the Hydra
In the foreground there is a pure white magnolia. Magnolias have been fantastic this year, so far no late frosts to discolour the buds and flowers. Behind Hercules there is a magnificent hedge of cloud cut yew - always a pleasure to see at Powis Castle..

Personally I can't see what all the fuss is about.
There were 3 peacocks, all rivals for this peahen, who mostly seemed to be bored by all the posturing, although she did eventually raise her own tail feathers in acknowledgement,

3 peacocks were vying for the attentions of a single peahen. Not only were the displays visually stunning but also clatteringly loud (or so I'm informed, I didn't hear that). The rear view was also amazing, See PiP.
The Stable Pond
Lysichiton americanus, skunk cabbage, was introduced into cultivation in the United Kingdom in 1901 and has escaped to become naturalized in marshy areas in Britain and Ireland, for example in Hampshire and Surrey, including Wisley Gardens, and in the north and west of the UK. In 2016, it was classified by the European Union as an invasive non-native plant species.

Autumn Meets Winter
Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant is a village, a community and an ecclesiastical parish in the extreme north of Powys, Wales; about 9 miles west of Oswestry and 12 miles south of Llangollen, on the B4580. It lies near the foothills of the Berwyn mountains on the river Rhaeadr. At the top end of the valley is the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, one of the Seven Wonders of Wales.
