Shrewsbury floods February 27

Shrewsbury floods February 27
Since yesterday the flood levels have gone down by about 1 metre as can be seen from the wet brickwork, but many properties are pumping out water, and there are house contents in the streets. We managed to get into town today using the P&R which couldn't go through the centre of town as roads are still closed. More rain is expected tomorrow and Saturday.

The first PiP shows the same area 6 days ago after the first serious flooding. This level of flooding was even worse.

The second PiP shows the cycling sign on the footpath by the river.

Hello Amelia well it seems everyones fears have been realised sadly .. on the shot you posted a few days ago showing the last level almost to the windows so sad that nothing could be done to stop it getting higher this time

Best wishes to you and those affected ... Steve

Keep safe.

I have been watching the news with trepidation.

Surely this must be a wake-up call - more than twice the "normal / average" rainfall for the month !

What a dreadful time Shrewsbury is having Amelia. The first time I ever visited the town it was badly flooded but not as bad as this! Something surely has to be done about the River Severn. Tewkesbury gets flooded so often as well.

Yes - the second flood event in a week. Homes and businesses had cleared the water and mud out and then it was all washed back in again, as the river level went even higher than before.

Oh my gosh, that's such a terrible looking picture. It must be awful for the people of this city. I hope you are well, Amelia, and I wish you a rainless weekend.

Oh no! That is so terrible. The weather in Ireland made the news in the US, but I had no idea that it was even worse where you live.

It must be awful for the people living there and nobody will want to buy idyllic riverside properties any more...
