Favorites: new lightbox view and browsing facilities

Why did you force your users to use the lightboxvief if they are clicking on a photo, why isnt the "View all sizes" the default as it was untip a week ago?
I don't like it on depressive black background.

I don't often use the Lightbox but I'm far from being the only user on this site.

No doubt many will be very happy.

For what it's worth, I hope you never change the Lightbox View. I think it's a great way of looking at pictures, and I love the black background.

I agree. The lighbox is functional, simple and sleek, and it is also optional from what I gather, because one doesn't have to see it unless they click the image.. At least I assume the "view all sizes" is available too.

On a side note, I'm very happy to be able to see my favourites in small & square thumbnails if I want - that was the feature I missed.

Unfortunately lightbox view plays very erratically, at least on my own favourites (I have 81 pages of them): it starts where it wants, it may jump over many pages, loop back to the beginning where it started and then just stop. It never plays for more than a couple of minutes, and on first page it won't start at all. The same happens on autoplay and manual advance. Tried this in Firefox and Safari on Mac osx 10.8.5.

Thank you for the quick fix. Works as expected now. 5 sec auto-advance is quite fast for my taste, though. :-)

Thank you for this upgrade, one I've been looking forward to for some time.

I have to say though that like Spotomy above I'm finding how it operates somewhat erratic. To me it would make sense to either start displaying your favourites from the beginning (first faved) or the end (most recently faved), but it just seems to jump into them in a totally random fashion.

If it helps, I'm using Vista and Google Chrome.

Worth pointing out too that the problem/glitch with how lightbox displays some images, as reported a couple of weeks ago (Ticket #31143) and as evidenced with this screenshot is still an issue for me at least.

Thank you very much for this update. This used to be my biggest gripe. The only thing that springs to mind now is that it would ease the eye strain, if the number of photo columns would auto-adjust according to page width. That way widening up the page would reduce the need to scroll. As it is, I've got into this auto-habit of closing my eyes while I scroll with the mouse wheel, a funny practise that actually reduces the eye strain a lot. Highly recommended! :-)

So, I don't care much about lightbox, but I've been on vacation and just noticed the satellite view on the map is gone. Maybe this happened two weeks ago, but I don't see this mentioned anywhere. Usually you guys are pretty open about this sort of thing. What gives? Is the satellit view gone permanently? Is there a glitch? I would love to have that back.

Sorry for this inconvenience due to a Google change. We need to update a piece of our program. Everything should work again within the next 2 weeks.

Thanks for letting me know. I was just a little taken aback, because usually you guysare very good about communicating such issues. But I look forward to having access to the satellite in a couple of weeks.

So the problem on maps is back again but be sure we'll solve it within the few next days.

In the mean time, you can use your mouse wheel to zoom in / zoom out.

I have service ticket on this from August 26th. The navigation bar on the map is gone. The zoom in and out, satellite and street view is also gone.

Wow, 2 more weeks?, it's already been down for 3 weeks now.

This problem was solved yesterday. We are now waiting a slot to put the fix online.
EDIT: the fix is now online :)

Maybe you could give openstreetmap a try next time when something like this happen...? They seem to be more up2date with their maps.

Migrating from Google Maps to Open Street Maps is in our plans (since the Google Maps API use is paying).
