Hello all,

The entire ipernity Team whishes you all the best for this new year.
We hope you have started 2014 very cheerfully!

Here is some quick news to let you know what is going on and the different types of projects that we are currently working on:

- safe surf: a safe mode is going to be available in a few weeks. This navigation mode will prevent you from seeing inappropriate content especially if you surf with your family. We will get back to you on this very soon.

-activation limit for free accounts for the 200 latest items published.
This limit has always been part of the characteristics of free accounts but up to today we did not put it in place. It will by no means remove the old contents but make them temporarily unavailable. Our philosophy is to offer free of charge our services for a short term usage and let our Club members benefit from a long term usage. We will inform the users concerned about this limit a few weeks in advance and invite them to join the ipernity Club , which don't forget is open to each and everyone of you!

- access albums by password. There are many of you demanding the possibility to have access to private albums with a password so that your visitors do not have to create an account on ipernity to view them. Good news! We are working on this project and it should see the light of day in the weeks to come.

Great changes coming down the road =) Along with passwd access to albums, would it be possible to make albums more shareable? Would be great to be able to "send to contacts" just like individual photos can now be shared --- would make it soooo much easier!

Unlike I don´t need the passwort - option for albums for the moment it´s great to hear about it again, because it was a longtime - wish of so many members, and it would be possible that I need it in the future, too.

A question about your safe-surf which was planned / under development the same long time (well, some years ago since the first articles by you about it):

How long will be the timerange you provide your members to categorize their content so it will be fitting to right filter-level?

Most of the content will be pre-rated by different means (manually set by our moderators team, automatically set according to certain content features, automatically imported from Flickr scripts...). Of course you'll be able to change of rating.

In a mid-December blog, you indicated that you were working to make the site more search accessible by Google. Is this still a project and if so, do you have any idea when this will occur? I have not had success locating photos that I posted on Ipernity by searching for the keywords on Google.

Regarding "PASSWORD" to Albums.

Can you explain the meaning of "PRIVATE" as opposed to "Friends and Family" please?

Access to non Members of Ipernity? Does this mean that Facebook users are able to access our Friends and family albums/photos because if it does it should be Blocked with immediate effect.

You must understand "private" as "not public", including Friends and Family sharing.

We would like to give our users the possibility to share their "private" content with people who are not members of ipernity.

So "Friends and Family" are considered as being Private and cannot be accessed via FB unless a password is available for such viewing.

If this is the case then i'm happy with that.

Why can't people just accept each other for what they want or don't want. If you don't want comment codes then don't join a group that uses them. If you don't want contacts that use them don't make them contacts, or in the extreme cases, block them. If a group doesn't want members who belong to comment code groups, state that in your rules and ban members that use them. I feel ipernity has really screwed the pooch on this issue. So many people fled flickr to find a safe haven here back in May, and I fear that many of those same people will now be fleeing ipernity. At the very least the loss of some very talented photographers here will be a sad result.

A plea to ipernity staff...Let us police ourselves! You have supplied the tools to do so, now let us use them. Don't start closing groups...I fear the backlash is more than you are expecting.

"Let us police ourselves!" Are you sure a site like ipernity won´t need any TOS or guidelines, and will working fine without having it, giving the control to each individual user? I don´t think so.
And additionally I don´t know any site you can participate in without any written TOS. Even in real-life, outside of the so called anonymious internet - are many written rules (and many more like here) - so it seemed not working pretty fine without rules or if each user decide the own ones. Even so called "freedom of speech" - sites have some written rules.

So - can you please provide an example-site which allow user-generated content without having any tos? I will have a look how this will work.

Ahm, and what did you expect by writing "I fear the backlash is more than you are expecting."?
