We have added a new feature for users with Standard (or Plus) Club membership.
When viewing photos with the 'small' option (where the images are all cropped to square), there is now a mouse-over effect that shows the 240 pixel image. This allows you to see a larger uncropped preview of the image before deciding to visit the photo page.
Just like the popup when you mouse-over a user's name, there is a short delay to avoid the annoyance of having a popup whenever the mouse goes over an image. The position of the popup depends on the width of your screen. If it is wide enough (and Widescreen option is ticked in Display options panel) the image is placed in the left or right margin space. For narrower screens the popup will overlap the squares.
We would also like to mention an earlier update to the front page. The page is aimed at attracting first time visitors, and is available only when you are logged out. So you may not have been aware that the slide show could be paused. The mouse-over effect has now been changed, so that instead of buttons and counter appearing in top right corner, on top of photo, it is the cursor that is changed to the recognisable pause and play icons. As well as a cleaner look, it means the user does not have to accurately click on a small button. Also, the progress counter is now always visible, beside the photographer's name at bottom right.

raingirl club has replied to Isisbridge clubAs stated in a prior Club News by the team:
"We currently know of only one bug, which most likely has its cause in the ipernity software, and which we have not yet been able to fix (even with the help of highly paid IT specialists): The malfunction of the 'replace' function, which is really not nice. But there has recently been an association member with IT skills who wants to help us. (See 2021-09-03 Club News, point 5)."

raingirl club has replied to franco benf clubraingirl club has replied to Pat Del clubThere are 2 new features.
1) Uncropped pop-up of small square images.
On a person's photo page, for example: www.ipernity.com/doc/raingirl?view=2
viewing the images in small tiles (one chooses the layout of the photo page in the top right - pick the appropriate symbol - small is 9 tiny tiles), if you then hover over the images, a pop-up will occur showing you the uncropped (non-square) version of the photo. That way you can decide if you want to click the photo to see it larger.
2) New way to pause slideshow on the frontpage.
The frontpage is what you see when you are not logged in and go to ipernity.com
One now can pause the photo slideshow by clicking anywhere on the image - it is now a toggle. Click once to pause, click again to continue.

I have used the mouse-over - very useful, as I have "small" set as my default.
Also hoping for a cure to the "replace" fault in the near future, but I know that the problem has been very difficult.
The work around I use is to upload the new version, make a note of the exact time of the old image, delete the old image, and then change the date uploaded on the new image to that of the old image, then refresh.
raingirl club has replied to StoneRoad2013 clubI'm glad you've figured out how to work around the replace issue. I personally have never had a reason to do a 'replace' - but appreciate its value and know very many people use it. We all look forward to a fix.
Jaap van 't Veen club has replied to StoneRoad2013 clubTeam club has replied to Jaap van 't Veen clubIn fact, our new technical team member Realbeck has even discovered a potential cause of the malfunction. But this does not mean that we can fix it. The necessary interventions in the operating software of the affected AWS servers are critical and require a special competence that we do not have. On October 5, 2021, we therefore asked our AWS specialist Innovations ON for a service appointment.
However, since we are only a very small, insignificant customer without a fixed maintenance contract, we have to accept that the service provider will only turn to us when the lucrative major projects with its main customers free up time for this. We will stay tuned in any case. However, we do not know when Innovations ON will deal with our request, nor whether Realbeck's finding will lead to success.
