On Wednesday I had my annual review at the doctors, and this started with a blood test. Now that means going to the plebotomy nurse and I saw a different one this time, to the one I'm usually seeing.

It did hurt a little when the needle went in, but not too much. She took 5 phials and I must admit, I was thinking that I'd be left with a soggy arm, with only a little bit of blood going round.

I know you don't bend your arm with the little bit of cotton wool plastered over the hole, so kept it straight. Didn't do any good though...............

Look what I ended up with by the evening.................

a pretty purple isn't it? It's quite tender, but I'm sure it won't take long to disappear, but not without turning pretty shades of green, yellow and brown!!!!!

Last time I had blood taken for testing they took 27 phials, they would check for everything except Pregnancy. There was hardly a mark to be seen afterwards.

It is a nasty one. Rick used to have to give blood all the time and he said if you hold your arm over your head for a bit it doesn't bruise. Haven't tried it myself.

I was told to keep your arm straight, but I take blood thinners so it probably takes a little longer to heal

Good grief that nurse was brutal! Hope you don't have that one again.
Have you heard of Arnica cream? You can get it at Holland and Barret and sometimes in Boots chemist too - probably cheaper at Boots. You rub it into bruises, very gently, and it helps the bruising go away quicker. I'm never without it here.

No need to really Fran, it wasn't her fault at all. I only have it a couple of times a year so no problem
