Hiya folks, well the weather forecasters were right at last - they said we'd have a gorgeous sunny day and that's exactly what we had. I thought that I would take advantage of having a car and there being a nice day to go out and see if I could catch a sunset. The sun goes down nowadays around 4.20pm, so the day can go quite quickly.

Mandi had said that she would Skype me this afternoon, so I waited and waited, 1pm came and went and I thought I'd better text her to find out what was happening. I quickly got a message saying sorry - she'd forgotten!!!! Then my neighbour Yvonne rang to ask if I'd be in this afternoon and I said, sorry, but I was going to venture out and would she like to join me? She took a rain check on that - and said she'd come up tomorrow afternoon.

So off I went....................

I stopped halfway along the road to Instow and took some photos of the River Torridge which goes through Bideford out to the sea at Appledore. This is the view looking towards Appledore where I used to live many moon ago............

This cycling/walking path used to be the old railway line which ran parallel to the river from Barnstaple to Bideford, but was stopped in 1965, now it's a lovely little walk or cycle ride.......

I decided to go to the small beach at a village called Instow which is about 3 miles from me. It was around 3pm by this time, so the sun didn't have too long before it would sink behind the hills. This time of year, the sun sets behind the hill in Bideford, whereas in the summer, it sets above the sea.

As you can see it was crowded. There were loads of dog owners walking their dogs and playing with them with balls etc..................

This lovely greyhound found this bit of wood, and it was her precious treasure, and valiantly protected it from her friend..................

This dog was a joy to watch, he was tireless in his game of football, his owner would kick the ball away and the dog would chase after it and then bring it back to his master, it went on for ages, brilliant..............

There was some lovely driftwood lying around on the beach............

The grass is starting to flourish on the sand-dunes. A few years ago, the dunes were closed off because the grass had all but vanished................

This is called Crow Point and apparently during the War, they used to practice beach landings here.....................

The sun started to go down behind the hill, it was getting quite chilly by then, even though there wasn't any wind....................

Almost gone - but so had the clouds, which meant that the sunset wouldn't be all that interesting....................

The sun has gone down, and it was very cold by now, so it was a case of let's go home. I was really surprised by how many people were taking advantage of the weather and not Christmas shopping.........

It was really lovely just being able to go out and see people and places when I chose to.
