Apparently this happened in April of this year and it looks a very scary thing to happen. I think I'd freak if I saw this coming towards me...............

I do not think it is genuine Ice having seen real Glaciers in northern Hokkaido which of course also follow the laws of gravity so would not rise out of the sea and travel uphill then inland.

We have on two occasions experienced what is called "Screw Ice" a rare thing that can happen when the temperature is low enough for the sea to freeze to great depths thereby expanding and forcing the unbroken ice up the cliffs or sea walls.

If you google Ice Shove you will see this actually happened in Wisconsin, there are loads of films of it and something very similar at other places. It is a rate occurence you're right John.

Without looking for the Wisconsin item my reason for thinking it incorrect is that normal ice does not break into geometrical shapes, in fact does not break up, nor is it so clear as what is shown in the video.
