Apart from today - I was visited by Richard from next door, and he brought a couple of portions of turkey. Apparently he had been given a few portions that were left over from a friend of his, who is a chef, and he decided to put the portions into microwaveable tubs. So I was very kindly given two of the portions. I must say - it was a wonderful gesture - and I cooked it as per instructions (written on the lid!!) and it was delicious, even though I could only eat half of it. So guess what I'm having for supper tomorrow night!!!!!! LOL
Well I've been making more epoxy resin pendants etc, every day - I'm having a whale of a time making them and I'm getting better at it. Other times of the day, I tend to watch the webcams of Westward Ho! - as it's the only way I can see the sea. It was only that one time in September that I saw the sea and it was marvellous. Well one of the cameras is focused on the outdoor swimming pool. Yesterday was extremely cold and very, very windy (Storm Bella arrived!!!) and to my amazement I saw some people swimming!!!!!!!! I assumed they were wearing wet suits - but no!!!!! The daft things were just wearing their usual swimming costumes!!! They didn't hurry getting out of the pool, neither, when they finished. I know it's probably good for you, but honestly - swimming on 28th December in the middle of a storm with freezing temperatures isn't my idea of having a good time!!!
I have a small video of the weather and the waves, which I took about 7 years ago - it was really good fun sitting there when the temperatures were decidedly warmer...
Then there was another video of the many waves etc, taken around the same time...
It was great fun watching others getting wet, whilst I was fine!!!
I do miss sitting near the sea and hearing the waves and smelling the ozone. Mind you, even if my car was working, I don't think I'd have ventured outdoors today - it was so so cold.
I hope you have all been keeping safe. I also hope you all had a good Christmas, and now you have the New Year's Eve to think about. With this other strain of the virus being rampant, 70% more infectious than the original virus, it's very scary to be outside. I have an extremely small "bubble" of neighbours and Emily, so I'm hoping that I'm safe. I'm just waiting for this vaccine to be given (also the flu jab) and then I won't have to worry about anyone or anything coming into the house.
So folks, all I want to say is Happy New Year and let's all cross our fingers (or anything else we've got to cross) that 2021 will be much better than this last one. Take care my friends, and please stay safe.
Heres hoping as we always do, for a better next year! Xo
Jenny McIntyre club has replied to GracieOoh nice to be given turkey, sounds good.
Happy New Year to you too Jenny, and as always, hoping for a better year for everyone.
Jenny McIntyre club has replied to Bee OrchidJenny - glad to hear you've had some good meals and you are keeping busy.
That webcam sounds very useful to you. I wish the one over the Marina at Whitehaven still worked ... I miss watching one of my favourite places.
Keep Safe, especially now there will be vaccines ahead ...
Jenny McIntyre club has replied to StoneRoad2013 clubYes you keep safe too, shouldn't be too long now.
Wow, those are some crazy people swimming and hanging out on the beach in their bathing suits. It's just crazy!! But some people are just able to handle cold better than others. That's not me! I have decided that if it's in the 30's F that I will not go out unless I absolutely must. It's just too hard on me...my extremities get so cold and then it takes ages to warm up again. If I don't cling to the Monitor heater with my feeties on the vent and then my hands and back to my feet until they are finally warm again--they are freezing cold for what seems to be all day. However, now I have a heated blanket (which I mentioned a while back) and it's really been wonderful for getting my cold feet toasty again.
ANYWAY...so yeah, I'm not one of those crazy people who can go out in the snow with shorts on, ack! What about you? Do your hands and feet get cold too? I just hate it. I've always been that way too. By the way, we also have no central heating--our Monitor heater does a great job heating the house though, and we have a space heater for our bedrooms and the game room where we hang out.
I'm glad you had a nice Christmas dinner and goodies from your neighbor too--I'm sorry that you couldn't have family to join you. Confounded Covid. :( We were happy hermits and enjoyed ribeye steak for dinner that night! :)
Gonna send the rest of this in a letter!
