I've been lucky with my helper and my new hair

Hiya folks, I have been so lucky today with my helper, Emily. Firstly she turned up with her middle daughter, Poppy, as she was on "work experience" week, and as her mum has her own business, she'd been roped in to helping her with her work because she couldn't think of anything else!!!!

So Emily turned up with Poppy and their work was done in an incredibly short time. Then Emily suggested they weeded the driveway - or at least as much as they could. I was delighted because the driveway is so full of weeds, there'd been rain and sun while I was away - a perfect solution for runaway weeds!!!!

This is them weeding by hand. Apparently they love doing it, so I let them get on with it.

This is what they managed to achieve in 3/4 hour. Next week, they're going to do more!!!! Just seeing small things like this done makes me feel so happy. I find I can relax knowing that the garden isn't as runaway as it could be.

Tony sent me his pictures of the award ceremony - I am so proud of him (have I mentioned that already?)

Here he is with Stevie, his very proud wife. I look at Tony and I see my child, not a man who's about to be 50 in December!!!!! I don't think he looks 50 and his wife, Stevie, is almost 52!!! She looks good for her age too.

Well talking about looking your age - I had my hair cut really short while I was out there in Turkey and it's 2 weeks ago since it was trimmed, but I thought I'd show you what it's like!!! I love it, so easy to look after - well a quick tousle and it's done!!! Now please bear in mind, I'd just come in from watching Emily and Poppy doing the weeding and I'm not too good at taking pictures of myself!!!

Well I like it anyway. Also I've realised that I wasn't wearing any make-up, so this is my "au naturel" look. Thinking about it - it must be over a year since I last wore make-up!! I keep saying that I don't need it - who am I kidding? At 71 I need all the help I can get!!!

Nice to hear about Emily and her daughter coming to help out. That's wonderful. They did a very nice job too!

Your son is very handsome and his wife is a beauty. And I'm going to disagree with you, his hair is magnificent! :) I think it works very well on him and looks super with his beard. What I love most about the picture of him and his wife are their beautiful smiles and their lovely eyes. They are genuinely dear people because those eyes cannot lie! :) Mama raised another winner! :)

I have already mentioned on your picture post about your hair...it's grand and you look very pleased with yourself, as well you should! :D

Wow thanks for saying I've got a handsome son (beaming with pride here!!!) and yes his wife is beautiful too. As for his hair - I think I've got to accept some blame here as he didn't like his hair being cut when he was young and wouldn't sit still when I tried to cut it!! So one evening I cut his hair while he was asleep but could only reach the parts that were visible!!! So next morning......he came racing downstairs in horror and said that I had to cut the rest of his hair to make it even! He never forgave me and to be honest I don't blame him! It's not something I'd recommend to anyone! I like it when it's shoulder length, it really suits him, but he needs a sort of fringe (bangs to you over the pond) but the hair is too long and it's getting thinner, so he needs it cut in layers then it won't be so obvious.

Lovely photos. He does look happy, and rightly so.
Good that you've got some help with the gardening, they're doing a good job.
My son had 'issues' with work experience years ago. Businesses were inundated, and he couldn't get a position, so he was 'employed' by my then bf who was visually impaired.

Yes I'm really happy to see how pleased he is. I'm also very happy to see Stevie beaming there.

As for Emily and daughter, I was so lucky to have them both here yesterday because they did a lot of work in a very short time. I hope Poppy is on work experience next week too and she comes with her mum!!!! LOL

One thing is you certainly lucked out with Emily. You couldn't ask for better... And I like seeing your driveway. I Like when you take pictures all around your home. Feels like I get to know you better..

Yes I did, didn't I? I certainly couldn't ask for better. My driveway is looking better after their weeding, but that's only a very small bit of it. The rest needs sorting out - I've noticed there are a lot of sycamore trees growing, so they're going to have to be got rid of immediately. I've got "stump" remover which needs to be put on the stumps/cut trunks so they won't grow again. I think I'm going to have to get a tree surgeon to do all the trees.

I'm glad you like the hair. I absolutely love it, it's so easy to keep tidy. I've got loads of pictures of my house, but it's lovely to hear that you like to get to know me better!

The photo is not so bad either when it is a Selfie, I can't do one except with the video cam i use on skype.

What a wonderful blog, Jenny! I agree with the others, you have a handsome son and beautiful daughter in law! I am so happy for you that your children have made you proud; I know how it feels as I am also very proud of my two!

Don't worry about makeup, Jenny, you look beautiful without it! I can probably count on one hand how many times I have worn makeup; I never liked it on me and didn't like the feeling of it on my face. Truth be told, I didn't wear any makeup on my wedding day, either, lol!

Oh you're so sweet Val. Thank you so much. Yes I am very proud of my two just like you. I've not had any problems (big ones I mean) from either of them, just the usual growing up ones - but now the only problems I have are where Mandi's health isn't good and Tony's working all the hours he's got, plus he's caring for his two children.

As for make-up - I only wear eye make-up and maybe some lipstick, but nothing on the skin - like you, I don't like the feel of the cream etc on my face.
