Apparently my movements outside aren't as good as they used to be. My vertigo isn't very good and walking outside with just a walking stick to steady me isn't enough. So I tend not to go outside because I feel as if I'm going to fall. Well when I was in hospital I mentioned this to the physio who promptly brought me a rollator to try out....

I'd often seen these outside and wondered how good they were. I was staggered at how comfortable and safe I felt. Okay, I feel like an old woman with it, but I'll just have to do my hair and put some make-up on and walk with my head up. The joy of it is that I feel steady with it, and I can walk further with it. Whenever I feel I need to rest, I just put the brakes on and sit on the seat!! There is a little basket underneath the seat which I can put my bag, camera and obviously my mobile phone and off I'll go!

Mine's a dark purple, not red as shown, but it's brilliant for me. A lot of problems I have is being able to see the ground moving when I'm walking which makes me very giddy and unsteady, whereas pushing this rollator, I can't see the ground, so that bit of giddiness is avoided. I still get giddy looking around at anything that moves, but that's reduced with the rollator. Also with the seat, whenever I want to take pictures, I can just sit down and take as many as I want to. It folds up and we can fit it in the footwell of the back seat of a car!

As I haven't walked very far for the last two years, this is now opening up a whole lot of the world for me. Now I live at the top of a very big hill, so I won't be walking up and down here, but I can walk up the road to get some practice in. So I'm a happy bunny.....

There is only one drawback and that's the fact I can't get it into the house without a great deal of difficulty. So it has to stay outside and I've just bought a cover for a mobility scooter (which is too big) and so it's covered over and left outside. I'm glad I live a long way from the road and pavement, otherwise I'd feel nervous about leaving it outside.

Sorry to bore you with all this, but I was just so pleased to have more of a chance to walk around.
