Just a note that I've been a tad busy today and expect the rest of the week to be fairly busy also.
It's Thanksgiving this coming Thursday and I have a fair amount to do. From cleaning which I got a good jump on today (as my back will attest to!) to starting the food prep either tomorrow or Monday. I try do anything I can in advance whether it can be frozen or will be good for a day or two in the fridge.
There will only be 6 of us.. Although I am a typical Italian and will cook for 12. My daughter of course will be in London.. I'll freeze her a portion for when she's home.
I'll be making an Antipasto to start..
Stuffed shells and red gravy next.
Turkey, Cranberry sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes both white and sweet, String beans almondine, lemon broccoli salad and cranberry sauce.. of course!
I'll make homemade Colonial pumpkin pie and eggnog. I'm sort of well known as maker of a very awesome eggnog.. ;-)
My sister will bring an apple pie and bread. My other guest is a friend of mine will bring another dessert.. Not that we need another. I ran into her yesterday and asked what she was doing.. Not a thing as she lives alone, doesn't see her daughters, (long story) and has no family in NJ.. So of course I invited her.. Can't have anyone be alone when I can do something about it.. Besides I alway have so much food.. But as much as this all sound like, this is less food than we used to do.. I've dropped the soup course, the meat that would normally be served with the pasta and the fruit and nuts.. No body ever ate them anyway..
This all takes a bit of work and I also wound up washing windows. That damn storm from 2 weeks ago really blew around a lot of dirt. The windows and sills were filthy!
Got into every nook and cranny so to speak!
So I will peek in and answer here and there.. But for the next several days you probably won't get much out of me. And I'm also only working Monday and Tuesday.. I need Wednesday off to prep.. That's when things get really hectic!
On this day we are supposed to remember the things we are thankful for in our lives.. Well one thing on my list this year is for my friends here and across the pond! The more I get to know you, the greater you enrich my life..Thank you for your friendship! And for my American friends in advance Have a Very Happy Thanksgiving!
A quick stop.. You know all I said I have to do?

I'm honoured to call you a friend too - this internet lark has enriched my life and I've made some amazing friends that I wouldn't have had the chance to meet otherwise.
And I have been doing big dinners for the Holidays for years.. It's all a matter of organization.. So really not hard.. Just have to go step by step.. Believe me, I get really tired after a day like these last two!
