The weather here has finally improved with sunshine aplenty, and warm days too that are great for drying laundry on the rigging.
The downside of sunshine and dry conditions, is that certain neighbours have had a party, in their garden, that went on until after 11.30pm. Much noise, much drunken carousing. I couldn’t sleep for ages, then had to get up around 04.30am for work. Lovely! I often wish I could up anchor and sail away to somewhere quieter. Quieter is often costly though, so until I win the lottery… LMAO.
Speaking of - the lifeboat had an expensive repair bill recently. I’d managed to save a good amount of money last month, but now I’ll need to have that back to pay for the repair bill. Oh well. I need some of it to travel to Wales anyway, to visit family and friends soon, though that presupposes that we won’t go into any local lock downs again. I’m quietly optimistic, and have bought some things to take with me, but I’m not holding my breath. If it happens all well and good, if I can’t go, well c’est la vie.
The Ship’s Dog is eating, though only after we ‘bribe’ him by crushing treats into his kibble. The vet stated we shouldn’t and that he’s never known a dog to starve itself, but he doesn’t know this dog that well. He’s always been a fussy eater, and now that he’s old (13) he’s even worse. We tempt him with boiled rice some days, and even cold pasta. He’s a tad underweight, so the extra carbs won’t hurt him, and if it encourages him to eat his kibble too, it’s all good.
Work has been steady with me working an extra 4 hours a week every week lately. No particularly rude customers, so that’s nice. We have been cleaned out (no pun intended) of bleach, antiseptic wipes, and the like, though each night these are replenished so we have plenty of stock, just not so many staff to restock the shelves. I think people are off on leave, hence the extra hours that I’ve had. I have a week off myself, soon. Counting the weeks lol. I like the job, like the extra money, though it is tiring and the thought of a whole week off… It’s keeping me going.
No news on the house yet, no viewings, though I’ve no idea how long it takes to sort out the marketing, or if the landlord will have to arrange a survey on the property. In the meantime, I’ve been taking small sheets of bubble wrap from work in case we must pack up and move. The sheets are between layers of packs of apples, and I asked a manger what happens to them. He says they are binned, and I can have them if I want them. So, that’s good. I wouldn’t just take them in case I got into trouble, but now I have permission. They don’t take up much room, though if we do have to move, I’ll ask in work for any boxes that aren’t wanted too. I’ve kept some from the previous move, and of course there’s Amazon, though anything I can get for free is a help. Wine boxes are particularly good for books as they’re so sturdy. Just planning ahead, though hoping to stay.
Well, that’s just about it. Beef pie for dinner today with veggies. I love making pie… lol
Enjoy the sunshine if you have it.

I think with things reopening the market will settle to more normal. Not as easy to sell the house then.
Beef pie sounds great to me.
Some people do need help, undoubtedly, but paying people so they can just sit on their butt? Not such a good idea and us taxpayers will be footing that bill in extra taxes, no doubt.
Lots of care worker jobs here, and night work, though not much else as yet.
I am lucky to live on a very quite street at my end at least maybe it is because we are old wrinkled specimens
Great variety of ages here and quite a lot of student housing so not much peace and quiet.
We've had wonderful weather too - and apparently the beaches nearby have been heaving, which is good that the people can go swimming (it must be freezing though)!!! I do hope you manage to get to Wales. I had a visit from my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren and it was amazing. First time in nearly 2 years that I had a hug, well several hugs. It's so important to keep in touch with the family. I do hope you don't have to move, you seem happy there. Good luck with the ship's dog - just feed him whatever he'll take - it's more important that he eats something.
I hope that you get everything sorted out satisfactorily sooner rather than later.
We've had some nice weather recently, so I've been topping up the Vitamin D when doing a spot or three of gardening (some jungle-bashing but also more normal maintenance jobs - such as grass cutting - compost heap is growing nicely ...) The late frosts and the wet/cold May really knocked everything back a few weeks.
WFH continues - although later in the day, usually - with various jobs getting done using the laptop
OH is having some health issues. It started when he had a broken tooth extracted and about when getting the second jab. So far, the only helpful med has been adding the brown asthma inhaler to the use of the blue version. Latest has been to get more tests and a chest x-ray ...
Jenny - One of the 'joys' of living near a town. At the height of the lock down it was so lovely and quiet here, though the noise is now picking up again.
I don't like beaches in the hot weather; too many people, too hot. I much prefer a walk on the beach in autumn or winter.
Sara - Very hot here. Very small garden, noisy too, so my son and I take vitamin supplements. I doubt either of us gets enough vitamin D from being outdoors.
I can't work from home unless they build a warehouse in my garden lol.
Hope your OH feels better soon.
