Happy Easter!
Sunday, our store is closed. Weirdly, Easter Sunday is not a bank holiday, so we’ve had to take a day’s leave, or else work our hours on other days. I seem to have done both! I said I’d use a day’s leave which was accepted, then managed to work 5 hours overtime anyway lol. Oh well. At least I now have 3 days off to recuperate and enjoy a nice meal with my son; full roast, with a half-price beef joint – can’t fault it!
I had planned to get some shopping, however there were no abandoned trolleys inside the store on Saturday, and the queue to get back inside with a trolley was huge. When I’ve ‘picked’ orders for 6 hours for customers, having to queue to get back inside to do my own shopping galls me, so I left it. I’ll most likely go out again on Monday just to make use of the extra staff discount that we have.
We’ve had some real characters in the store this week. An older man was looking at the packs of lamb chops and I offered to move out of his way. He stated he was still deciding, and a colleague asked if he wanted a big one. Quick as a flash, he replied: Be honest dear, we all want a big one, don’t we? How we laughed… An elderly man was looking at the jam and I asked if I was in his way and I said sorry. He retorted, with a twinkle in his eye: You will be. Well, that tickled me, and I burst out laughing much to his delight. He said that so many people just give him a funny look, suspecting he was serious. I assured him we like the banter, or at least I do. Hell, I even try/threaten to play Chicken with the trolley on the rare quiet days. I’ve mentioned a man that I like. Well, I keep seeing him on his knees, and if he weren’t a junior manager… Let’s just say I have a mischievous spirit, at least in my own head LMAO. He often calls me by name, but also by endearments too. Ooh. Good job he can’t see me blush… Even if it goes nowhere, it’s fun to think about :)
Here in England, we have just over a week before non-essential shops will be allowed to open again, assuming all goes well. I desperately need some new shoes that aren’t bought online. It’s all well and good, buying online, but you can’t try them on. My ‘new’ shoes are hurting my feet and causing a callus on my toe. My watch battery died weeks ago, and not having a working watch is such a drag. I’m hopeful jewellers will reopen so that I can get my watch working again. I’m also nearly out of perfume, and who doesn’t want to smell nice? I have my heart set on a new combi microwave though have held off as you can only have it delivered, or use click and collect. I want to see what I’m buying, in the flesh as it were, and be able to return it easily should it be faulty. Oh man, I desperately need a decent haircut. So much shopping to do, so few shops open lol.
On a happy note: The weather has been glorious, though a tad hot for 2 days. It’s now a little cooler, still sunny, so that’s nice. Enjoy the sunshine whilst we still have it; I’ve read that very cold temperatures are expected very soon.
Take care, keep safe.

Can't you buy watch batteries in your store? Or at least on-line. You could then have a working watch, instead of having a dead watch for weeks. As for needing a haircut, I'm with you there, I'm going mad with my long hair - I don't feel normal at all.
Have a great Easter - and stay safe.
Dinner sounds great. I do love beef.. Whats your son eating? I thought he wasn't much for meat?
Enjoy the nice days and time off. Happy Easter!
Jenny - Our post office has been closed all this year, so if I buy anything, and it's not suitable, I can't return it unless I make a 10-mile round trip. I can't print returns labels either due to the library being closed too. As for the watch, I don't trust myself to open it up and change the battery as it's so small. I changed the car key batteries without incident, but my watch? Daren't risk it.
Gracie - My colleagues think it's funny when I aim my trolley at them and say I'm playing chicken lol. I don't do it if customers are nearby though.
The knees? I so want to say something, though worry he may not take it well. Don't want to lose my job, but in my head... lol Maybe one day when I'm feeling brave?
My son does eat a lot of vegan food these days, though he does enjoy a beef dinner now and again. He eats meat about once, maybe twice a week at most so it's not too awkward.
