This week, I have been dusting off, and polishing the plank in readiness for the people I’d like to walk it. Top of the list are those disgusting people – and it is disgusting – who drop their face masks as they leave the shop they were in. These are dirty, if not with Covid, then potentially cold germs, or flu and so on, and some poor sap has to pick them up. It’s disgusting! Dispose of them properly people!

Next would be people who are shopping in pairs, or even family groups, despite being asked not to. Walking around with a trolley each is not fooling anybody, and we’re not stupid.

People who either send back their online orders, and who aren’t even in to take delivery of said orders come close to the top too. One day, we had 17 crates of ambient goods (tins, dried food etc) to put back on the shelves. It’s possible some of these had alcohol in, and the recipient was unable to prove their age, legally, but 17 crates in one day? Good grief!

I’d also like to add those police, security, receptionists who have had a little power, find they like it, and are now abusing said power because they get off on it. So many stories on the news about the above crossing the line, just because they can.

Despite still being on Lockdown, supposedly, we had 11 cars parked in our street one day recently. They’re joining the line of people waiting to walk the plank. The police could make some easy money giving them parking fines, but I guess they’d rather chase after people who are out walking (exercise is allowed) or others walking to work.

It’s getting difficult now to order these now, though I’d add people who won’t social distance. I was in a supermarket, waiting for the woman in front to finish off and move away, when an old couple stood right behind me. I pointedly moved into the other, unused, aisle whilst the till operator asked them to move back and to respect social distancing. The old lady got quite upset at being asked to move, and her husband told her to stay where she was, and not to mind us. How nice. I could have cooties for all they know, but they would not social distance.

That’s probably enough for now as I suspect the line will be quite long lol. I have my eye follow-up appointment this week, and because I’m not allowed to drive afterwards, work has given me a day off, with pay. It’s appreciated. I shall most likely walk the mile or so to the hospital as I’m not comfortable catching a bus, even though we must wear a mask on said bus. It’s probably no further than I walk most days in work anyway.

Oh, speaking of, we’ve been told we must book a large portion of 2021/2022 leave before the end of March. WTF? I’ve decided to book 3 ‘days’ off, every other month, and to save some in case something comes up but it’s weird; how can we know when we want to take leave so far in advance? It’s not like anyone can go anywhere any time soon… I do hope our manager comes back soon (self-isolating); he runs the place so much better than the 2 in charge at the moment.

Despite there being ‘no overtime’ I have 6 hours overtime a week for the next 3 weeks. What a laugh…

That’s all for now. Take care, be safe.
