May 2020 has been reported as the hottest on record, and globally, it tied with 2016 as being the hottest May on record. Too hot for my liking. If May was the hottest, surely June is heading for the wettest. We’ve had thunder, lightning, and what feels like endless days of rain. Two Tuesdays in a row were nice, but otherwise, it’s been very wet. Thankfully no flooding in my area, though there has been flooding elsewhere. We live on a small slope here which helps drain the water away. Our previous house had no danger of flooding due to being on a hill which was a pain if it snowed heavily, but good as far as flooding is concerned.
Work has been fine and so far, I’ve worked 12 shifts with the alarm waking me only once. Work tires me, which is good, but I don’t sleep well which isn’t so good. It affects my short-term memory like most, I guess. One day I went shopping and it wasn’t until I was in the shop that I realised that I’d gone out without my watch or my phone – thankfully I hadn’t gone far so if I had run into any trouble with the car I could walk home. Another day I was leaving for work and realised just in time that I had joggers on for walking the dog instead of tidy trousers. The following day I almost left in canvas shoes instead of tidy shoes; that same day I also forgot to duck as I got into the car and dinged the side of my head. Now, I start at my feet, 5 minutes before leaving the house, and check I have the correct shoes, tidy trousers and so on as well as keys, phone… I need a checklist by the front door lol.
On the subject of work: The scanners we use tell you, and presumably our boss, how fast we’re picking. Red, which isn’t good, is what I usually have though this week I managed two amber picks which is better, and even a green pick which I was very pleased about. At the end I was almost half hour late due to picking over 100 items and the supervisor asked me to stay. Uh oh I thought. Anyway, he just wanted to catch up, asked if I liked it which I do, and asked what I used to do and if I was going back to it. We chatted a while, then he told me I had 2 days leave that I need to take in the next 2 weeks. I asked if he was sure as I didn’t think we’d accrue holidays being only temp staff. Bearing in mind a ‘day’ for me is only 4 hours, I have 2 days off next week so that’s nice.
This week my son complained that his Dad is ‘stalking’ him lol. They should have had an event at the university whereby representatives from various companies come in and look at their work. Due to the virus, the live event was cancelled however some students forwarded their work for an online exhibition and apparently my ex checked in to see what his son had been working on. For reasons I can’t quite fathom, he didn’t submit anything and neither did many of his peers and his Dad commented in an email that he couldn’t see anything with our son’s name on it. He was cross that his Dad is checking up on him; I’m staying out of it.
So, not much else happening. Just rain, drizzle, mist, showers, torrential rain… Need I go on? LMAO
Stay safe, keep well, and be alert; your country needs lerts…

Yes it's been raining, thunder, lightning and strong winds here too - with the odd clear sky for about 20 minutes now and then - at the moment there's not a breath of wind, everything is very still and I feel as if I'm waiting for something to happen!!!! It's just stopped raining so the cat has gone out!!!! No doubt it will rain and he'll be back in asking to be dried off!!! LOL
The weather this month has been the pits! Can't believe how many thunder storms we've had, and it doesn't even feel fresh afterwards.
To Jenny's question about part time, when I was while my Amanda was little, I accrued time too. Both vacation and sick. I forget exactly but I worked 25-30 hrs a week and I believe at 120 I got a day each sick and vacation and 1/2 personal day. It added up for me to take a family vacation.
Fran you're not alone in forgetting etc! I literally have gotten horrid too! Rick walked right by me the other day I didn't notice nor remember I saw him. I forgot my laundry in the dryer yesterday for quite a while! The list goes on....
Yes, best you stay out of your sons business with his father..
Gracie - I'm not alone then, though sorry to see that. Guess it gets us all as we get older.
Mickey - If you're too slow it holds up the deliveries which obviously customers don't like, so there is a sense of urgency about it. Not as bad as the Deliveroo in the other shop where you had an actual time limit that was, frankly, unrealistic.
