Yet again I’ve had a gas bill for over £1200, and yet again I made an official complaint. A manager called me, stated that it had all been sorted, but that for reasons known only to herself, someone had gone into my account and altered the meter reading back to the incorrect 5-digit reading. OMG! He’s sorted it all out, again, and it now seems they owe me over £150. I’m not sure about that though they state E-On provided the wrong readings in the first place. A meter reader is coming out next month, and from those readings, we’ll have a better view of who owes what. Honestly, if they screw it up again, I’m walking.
Today, Thursday, I should have had my eye check-up at the hospital though as regular readers will know, they cancelled my appointment – again, and moved me to the end of July. On Tuesday the hospital phoned me and offered me a cancellation for Thursday morning. Obviously, I jumped at it! I took my son to uni, parked the car back at home, and popped into town for the bus. A short ride later for the princely sum of £1, and I was at the hospital. They were 15 minutes late seeing me, though as I was 2 months early, I wasn’t going to quibble. They measured my eyes, twice, and it seems one eye is ‘longer’ than the other. Not uncommon apparently, but not that common either. They put some drops in that make your pupils huge, and I waited to see the specialist. He then put in drops that numb the eyes – horrible feeling – and had a good look at them before stating that in fact I don’t have any cataracts. Not a one. OMG! Almost 5 months of stress and worry, and all for nothing!
Obviously, I’m very pleased that I don’t need surgery, just new glasses. He commented on my rosacea and stated that this affects the eyes. I’ve been told this before, at the eye clinic in Wales. He also asked if I had eczema – which I do though thankfully only 2 patches of it, and he said this also affects the eyes. Something to do with the skin near the eyes. The eye pain I had one night, was most likely my dry eye lids scratching my cornea. He says I have to drink a lot more water which he says will help my eyes and my skin, and to think about increasing how often I use my eyedrops and gel. He’s going to discharge me from the eye clinic, so now I have to see my optician, tell them they were wrong, and to sort out new glasses for myself. What a relief!
After my eyes had calmed down I popped to the shops. I treated myself to a pretty summer blouse which means I can throw one of my old holy ones away, and I bought a gorgeous hooded jumper. It’s so soft and was half price. Both items were then 25% off (Sainsbury’s). I also stocked up on wine, 25% off if you bought 6, and I also had £6 off my (minimum spend) shopping. I love a shop like that :) So, a good day all round in the end and a lot of relief for me.
Almost the weekend. Enjoy the rest of the week and have a great weekend. Tonight, I’m having a drink! lol

I love a bargain day shopping. Overall sounds like a good day!
Thanks, yes you too enjoy the weekend and the week to come, it was Bank hol here yesterday.
Good news on the eye front and a little treat for yourself sounds like a good day
Pity about the gas meter readings - I do hope that you get it all sorted out, and confirmed in writing, sooner rather than later.
Some of these privatised energy / water / transport companies could not organise a P****up in a brewery with the beer provided ...
Yes, privatisation of essential services has been a real bonus to us consumers - not! Making a quick buck was definitely on the agenda when they were sold off. I'm sure I could do a much better job myself.
