Well, I take back everything good I’ve ever said about our NHS. As regular readers will know, my eye appointment was brought forward 5 weeks, which obviously is good news. Days later, I’ve received a letter saying the appointment has been cancelled, and my new appointment is now 3 weeks later than my original one! I’m so angry and feel totally frustrated and vexed by this. I’ve written asking for an explanation for the cancellation as none has been given. If this farce carries on, I’ll be making an official complaint. I thought the NHS in Wales was bad enough, but this is taking the p*ss! I shan’t post anymore about this farce as it’s just making me too angry.

Sympathies, Fran.
That is terrible administration ... hopefully they can sort it out PDQ and explain themselves.

When you've had the eyes sorted, I would suggest starting the complaints procedure - maybe contact the local PALS for support ?

Oh Fran I am sorry to hear this. No wonder that you are angry - I'd be tamping mad too. I had my appointments for the hospital changed "due to circumstances beyond our control" and they were for a couple of weeks later - then I rang them because I didn't understand as some of the appointments were follow ups which meant that the actual appointment was after the follow up!!!! If you get what I mean - I rang up and spoke to a lovely lady who was very sympathetic and she immediately sorted out the appointments for me and they were only a week later and all went perfectly. Have you actually talked to someone on reception at the hospital and found out why the appointments are all over the place. I agree with StoneRoad2013 that you should contact PALS as they might be able to sort things out. As Mickey says - you vent away girl - it's good for you to get it off your chest!!

Thanks everyone. I'm furious. I did phone them, however I was number 9 in the queue and frankly can't afford to be on the phone that length of time. I've written a carefully worded letter, detailing the chain of events, and have requested an explanation for the cancellation which puts me further back than the original appointment.
My kid sister phoned me, said she felt she needed to, and she let me vent for a while - she has free minutes on her mobile - so that was good. I miss her.
