Monday, I had another 90-minute opticians’ appointment. I aced my Fields Test, the pressure tests were good, and more eyeball photos were also good. My cleaning regime is already showing some improvement in the eyelid area too. To cut to the chase, I don’t have glaucoma – huge sigh of relief – though I do have cataracts. The one in my right eye is very small and my vision there isn’t bad, so although I may need surgery some years from now, they’ll leave that one alone for now. The cataract in my left eye needs removing, and the optician will book me in for eye surgery though I could be waiting quite a while. She gave me leaflets, and we had a good talk and I feel much better about things now. Not great, having cataracts, but quite easily fixed apparently, and I’m okay to drive unless there’s a marked deterioration in which case I’ll need to go back for more tests. At present my pupils are huge, from the drops, and I look like I’m high on something LMAO. Thank goodness for autocorrecting.

The optician is going to write to my GP to update them, and also to ask if my eye drops/gel can be put on repeat prescription as they were in wales, as I’ll need to use them probably forever. Having to ask for a new prescription every 4 weeks, the GP to check it, then the chemist collect it, then me collect the drops is a waste of everyone’s time.

My son was lurking in the living room when I got home, waiting for an update. Guess he’s been as concerned as me, and I am his taxi after all lol. Speaking for myself, I was awake at 4am, stressing about the appointment. I’ve had eye surgery before, whilst awake, so I’m trying not to think about it; I can’t stress for the next few months…

In other news, I had a letter from the hospital stating my neurology appointment in May has been cancelled. WTH I’m thinking, when I noted another very similar looking letter, stating I now have an appointment in early March. No reason was given, so I can only assume there may have been a cancellation. Anyway, good news!

Not much else going on, very cold and frosty though we do have some glorious sunshine. I can’t go out in it for a few hours as it’s hurting my eyes. They’ll settle down throughout the day I’m told.

Have a good week.
