After too many days of hot sunny weather, we’ve had a little rain at last. The forecast is for showers all day, and we had a nice amount first thing, but the garden could use a little more. We’re forecast rain again Friday morning, and thunderstorms on Sunday. Fingers crossed. Obviously, I don’t want rain for the week of the move or the plants may be too heavy, but rain beforehand will be gratefully received.
The Ship’s Dog has had his final bath at his usual spa (Pets at Home to you) and he looks and smells fantastic. They’re not cheap, but they always do a great job and my neck and back can’t take bathing him anymore so I’m happy to pay. He’s now exhausted LOL, probably from barking and ‘suffering’ though they did say he behaved well once I’d gone. Typical!
After I dropped him off, I had a good mooch around the shops, did some printing and photocopying in the library, and had a lovely coffee and a pastry in a new coffee shop. I checked the Post Office, about redirecting mail, however because the Deckhand and I don’t share the same Surname I’d have to pay twice which would cost over £60 for just 3 months. Neither of us have much mail, so I’m not going to bother.
This week, my sister took me and her partner to a new shopping… the only word I can think of is a warehouse. It was huge and sells everything! I bought the Ship’s Dog a new bone to keep him happy on moving day, washing fluid, and a great little folding chair for less than £9. I’ll have no furniture here for an afternoon/night so something to sit on is a must. I bought a few other items, though not too much. My sister has her eye on a new 3-piece suite, and if I was staying, there was one I liked too. My sister’s partner treated us to a nice lunch, which was kind of him. Great shop, but sadly they haven’t branched out ‘up North’ yet. I’ve already bought a single, blow-up mattress, and foot pump, and plastic cups and plates for the final day, so I’m all sorted now. There was an industrial estate nearby that I would have liked to look around, but the driver, my sister, was tired so we went home. A good day out.
It was the Deckhand’s Birthday recently and my ex sent him a very generous gift of money to his account. He didn’t say Thank you, despite my encouragement, so as usual, my ex’s wife has emailed me. Oh, good grief… It is bad manners, and I raised him better than that, however he’s a grown up and I can’t force him to communicate with his Dad. I apologised and said Thanks on his behalf. I shouldn’t have to, but I feel it’s a poor reflection on me and the way I raised him. Kids…
The week is almost over, so enjoy the rest of it, and have a lovely weekend.

You may have rain till Saturday. But please, at least where I am, may we just have a little sun? By 7:30 am Sunday I'll be there. I'm bringing a rain poncho but hope I don't really need it! Whats the actual move date? You may be moved by the time I get home 6/2..
I'll still be here when you get back.
Happiness is a clean dog.
Happy travelling when it happens.
Mick - I'll happily have the rain for a few days. A much cooler day today which is nice.
John - Hope he can keep clean for a while, he smells so nice at the moment.
We have had drizzle all day, ideal for plants. Good luck with the days up to the move, so have a relaxing weekend if you can.
