Plans never seem to work for me. I plan something, and it invariably goes pear-shaped so now, I rarely bother. This week however, the Plan was to go to my sister’s house, follow her to the garage for some work her car needed, then we’d go shopping in my car and have lunch. Well, as always, the plan didn’t work. I arrived to find her on the phone, looking very stressed. Her car wouldn’t start. Dead as a doornail as they say (what is a doornail?) The breakdown people wouldn’t arrive for almost 2 hours – she was safe at home, so wasn’t an emergency consideration. Her partner was home, poorly, so we left him in charge of the car and I took her to the supermarket for groceries. I had a comprehensive list and left it on the coffee table at home. D’oh!
Whilst out she received a call; the breakdown people had arrived a little earlier than expected, got the car started, so we headed back to hers to find her partner sitting in the car, running the engine, charging the battery. A quick call to the garage who confirmed they would still be able to take the car for repairs, and we were off again. We had a light lunch back at hers then I left. The car was going to take about 3 hours to repair and I didn’t want to hang around that long. Something is draining her battery, and the plan is for me to go there again next week and redo the above.
I’ve not been sleeping well so I decided to have my main meal at lunchtime in the hope that a light evening meal will make for a better sleep. I’ve cut right back on ‘bad’ things and I’m eating more fruit and veg. Wednesday, I had a terrible night. I was listening to some nice music before bed, had half a mug of warm milk, took a hot water bottle to bed for my back and did some light reading in bed. 11.30pm I was still awake – that’s late for me. I eventually drifted off, only to wake at 2.30am due to a grumbling stomach. I drifted off again, woke at 4.30am then couldn’t sleep. At 5.30am I gave up and got up and had a cup of tea.
I managed to make breakfast without any mishaps, then I took the dog out around 7am but had trouble locating my shoes. One was on the shoe rack in the hallway (it’s really a wrought iron plant stand, though it makes a great shoe rack) and I couldn’t find the other one. I looked under the dog who was hogging the hallway, and under the shoe rack, and eventually espied it… on my foot! I’m waiting in for a dog food delivery today, which is probably just as well, as I feel ‘dangerous’. I think later, I will be having a nap. Man, that makes me sound old LOL
I had a video chat with my son Wednesday and he’d had a busy weekend at uni. They were taking part in a gaming activity, working in teams, designing, building, and running a game they’d created that weekend. He said it was great fun, and he had a good time, though some students didn’t leave to sleep, or shower! He assures me he did. Well, so long as they’re having fun. This is something he can put on his CV as it counts as team building, working to a deadline, and so on.
Enjoy the rest of the week. Hoping for some sunshine for all of us.

Maybe with all the packing etc you're overtired and more stressed than you realize. So many things to do.
I don't know where the saying "dead as a doornail" came from. I do know Rick had put them (special 2 headed type. I think that's their name) on our side door. Makes it so you cant just unhinge the door off.
Glad your sons doing well. Just took some adjustment. Still he'll be happier once your near . As wil you. Hope you Sleep well tonight
A duff alternator is the most likely cause of your sisters car troubles,a common fault
Yes, you always find things you're looking forin the last place you look. LOL
If her battery is old it is most likely theproblem, she needs a new one unless as Jenny suggested the alternator may need changing or the drivebelt adjusting.
I didn't have a nap in the end as I got distracted looking for a house. By 9pm I could barely keep my eyes open so went to bed early, and slept a solid 7 hours which is great!
I can't sleep in as my neighbour (milkman) is very noisy in the early hours and wakes me slamming his doors. I find it hard to settle afterwards. I won't miss that!
