On Wednesday I met my sister for lunch. We discussed where to go, I mentioned a few places I like, and she chose one – she was paying. After our meal I popped to the loo, and she stated the lights were getting to her, and that she’d pay then wait outside. I was only gone a couple of minutes but when I came back, there was no sight of her. She wasn’t outside the restaurant, nor outside the centre we were in, so I made my way back to the car, and there she was! I know she suffers from anxiety, however sometimes I do find her a tad rude; she didn’t say she was going back to the car and I wasted time looking for her, wondering if she was okay. Families…

That afternoon I started prepping my son’s berth for a repaint. I’d bought paint on Wednesday, for his berth and the hall, though neither bore much resemblance to the paint charts in the shop. His is a shade of green that’s a bit darker than the shade shown, and the hall paint was supposed to be neutral but is quite pink. I won’t be using that! I did a test area, looked at it for 4 days, and finally painted over it. I know it’s a cliché, but I think I’ll go with magnolia for the hall. At the moment it’s brilliant white, matt, but it looks ‘tired’ quite quickly so I want to repaint and tone it down.

My son’s berth was a game. I had to move all the furniture to one side of the room, vacuum – and there’s a tail – typo deliberate. I spotted a grey tail behind the wardrobe. Eek! It wasn’t moving, so I cautiously picked up a little grey body, with gloves on. My heart was in my mouth and I was mortified, until I spotted it was a little knitted mouse. LMAO! It must have been there for quite a while. Anyway, the prep takes such a long time: moving furniture, putting paper down – I’m messy with paint, covering furniture with sheets… It’s taken me until Monday morning to finish the painting including touching up some of the ceiling. Tuesday I’ll touch up any patches not covered enough, and get on with washing the curtains if the sun ever comes out again. Then I have to move the remaining half of the furniture back again, collect the papers, and vacuum once more. It’s not a huge room, but it’s been hard work. I feel a few days of taking it easy coming on.

Sunday, we had a nice day, and I got one pair of curtains on the rigging, but Monday has dawned damp, windy, and quite warm with a strange yellow hue to the sky. Most unpleasant. I don’t think the predicted storm is set to my part of Wales much, though if you’re in its path, do take care out there and have a good week.
