On Friday my sister rang and said ‘I need to vent.’ I inwardly groaned, said I’d call her back, and hung up. I don’t like to ‘chat’ on my mobile so rang her back from a landline. Well, for 40 minutes she just ranted. At one point I had to hold the phone away from my ear because she was getting louder and louder. When I was married, my MIL used to receive calls from a Mrs R. She’d put the phone down, go and put the kettle on, pick up the phone, say ‘Oh dear’ then walk off and do something else, then repeat. I could have done the same on Friday. She wanted some advice, and I gave it, then she gave me the full story and I had to revise my advice. After 40 minutes I reminded her that I was in work and needed to do some. She makes my stomach knot up, and seriously harshes my mellow.

I’m no doormat, however I am polite to practically everyone, will say hello to anyone I meet, and go out of my way to be helpful especially in work as that forms part of my role. I won’t work myself into the ground for anyone, don’t get me wrong, but if I can help someone, then I will. This sister is the polar opposite of me; she’s loud, brash, and goes out of her way to be confrontational and antagonistic and sometimes it comes right back and bites her in the ar**. She never put any effort into her school work and consequently left school with no qualifications and of course can’t get a decently paid job. She was having way too much fun to bother with school work. Fun is good, in small doses; however we each make our bed and have to lie in it.

Afterwards I rang my kid sister to alert her of the rant in case she was next in line but she had visitors. I asked her not to call back later as I couldn’t deal with any more calls. Anyway, she rang back twice that evening and unlike me, I didn’t answer. Too much family drama for one day!

I’d bought a lottery ticket on Friday, and told my son if I won, that we were going to move away from the area. I’d give all my family some money then we’d move, change all our numbers, and not tell anyone. Basically I’d run away lol. I did it once, as a very small child when we were living in Germany. Goodness knows how I did it, but I’d packed a toy suitcase that I had, and was picked up by an old German couple on the autobahn (motorway). They took me to the local police station and questioned me and I told them that I was going to see my Granny who lived in Wales. Obviously they took me back home to my parents, and they often teased me about it. I’d do it again, seriously!

I can be very laid back, almost horizontal lol, and I can chill with the best of them so when someone tries to harsh my mellow, I don’t take it well. I eventually ‘threw off’ my sister’s mood and had a chilled evening, mostly.

Saturday I lay awake in bed at 3:30 listening to the rain. Damn it! My friend and I had planned a morning at the local agricultural show. By 8am the weather had brightened and we decided to go for it and we had a good morning out. We came across a number of people that he knew, had a picnic lunch of sorts, and a good amble around looking at bulls – massive!, sheep, pigs and so on, and did a little shopping. I spent less than £20 all told. I’m such a big spender lol. We had a nice time if a little exhausting. Saturday night I slept for 7 hours solid which was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in weeks.

Sunday has dawned bright with just a few clouds, and I’m off out to get some groceries soon. Enjoy the rest of the weekend/week depending on when you read this :)
