Last week was very quiet apart from one of the pirates and me having a play with some new cameras. One even tracks you around the room! What fun. I made a short video and watched it on playback. OMG it’s true when they say the camera puts pounds on you! That or I’m just getting old and heavy LMAO.

Some days I feel like an ‘old’ woman. Other days, like today and I’m springing up the stairs at speed that would shame people much younger than me. Today I feel good. Tomorrow? Who knows…

We had some wannabe pirates on campus today, and I sat and invigilated an exam. I have to set these up, and it’s always time consuming and a chore. Even more so when pirates turn up who didn’t have the decency to confirm that they were coming. I could seriously make them walk the plank! The upshot was that they had to sit quietly and wait for about ten minutes whilst I confirmed they were where they should be, and for me to set them up for the exam. Thankfully they finished in good time and I was able to have a proper lunch break. These things are important; to me anyway :)

The Ship’s dog is a little under the weather in that he’s been limping regularly, especially in the evening. He has a check-up later this month and I’ll get the vet to have a look at him. I can’t see anything wrong with his foot, and at 7 he’s a little young to be having any kind of hip problems. Hopefully it’s just a sprain. He stills leaps about like a puppy despite being 7 now.

Work is quite sporadic, with some crazy busy days, and some quiet days where I’m wishing I’d brought a book in, or a sword for some duels. I’m going to take a week off in July; I just have to decide which week I’ll be missed the least. I have no plans to go anywhere though the break is always good. This year, for the first time, we won’t have the international pirates on site over the summer. They were a rowdy lot, a total pain, and considering they were here to learn English, I never heard much of it spoken. Apparently they were asked to provide a deposit to book our site, and someone took the hump. Oh well, I’m sure many will be gutted that we won’t be overrun with children singing, shouting, and generally littering the place, I however won’t be one of them.

The Cabin Boy has been quiet and I confess I’m looking forward to him going to college in September. He’s no problem, but college will be good for him and it will do him good to mix with people hopefully his own age. When I went for a year I grew up a lot which was no bad thing. I’m hoping it will be a good experience for him. He’s going to study computer aided drawing (CAD), computer design and graphics, how to write apps, create web pages for business, computer games animation, and some art too. His Dad already has his eye on a university course to follow this, though I’m more hopeful that he will gain some employment from it.

I hope you all have a good week, and that sunshine follows you and brightens your day. Keep scurvy dogs and pirates at bay, excepting me of course ;)
