Charlie Gracie (Graci) appeared on Bandstand years before Dick Clark became the host. In 1956 he recorded "Butterfly" (Lowe - Mann) as composed under the pseudonym "Anthony September" in late 1956 and it became an immediate hit selling over three million copies. Charlie was the first solo rock and roll act to appear in Britain.

Originally one of The Williams Brothers before going solo in 1953 Andy Williams again took the song to number one in 1957. Both versions were on the charts simultaneously. Andy's cover is on the "Andy Williams" album that was released the next year containing his six singles and the B sides.
