Cuban bandleader and King of the Mambo Perez Prado's (Damaso Perez) "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White" as a cha-cha cover went to number one in 1954. The hit featured Billy Regis on trumpet. Members of his orchestra also included the likes of Mongo Santamaria and Maynard Ferguson.
