Stand By Me
The Boyer Brothers (James and Horace) cd "Songs of Worship, Volume two) contains the final track "Oh Lord Stand By Me" (Smallwood). The original vinyl was recorded in 1952.
Soul Stirrers sang "Stand By Me Father" (Cooke - Alexander) with Sam Cooke's successor Johnny Taylor on lead.
Ben E. King (King - Glick) recorded the secular "Stand By Me" in 1961 when it rightly hit the top ten. The same cover hit the top ten again in 1986 following the release of the movie by the same name. Note that the composer "Glick" is a pseudonym for the incredible team of Leiber and Stoller.
