You've Got A Friend
Carole King's "You've Got A Friend" is on the legendary 1971 "Tapestry" album. The song won the Grammy as "song of the year".
James Taylor calls this "the best song ever written" and it comes from his 1971 album "Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon" and was recorded at roughly the same time with many of the same musicians. "You've Got A Friend" was released as a Taylor single and topped the charts. The tune won him the Grammy as "best male pop vocal performance".
If you know of a recording artist from this decade the chances are good that they covered this classic!
