The man who gave us "Sweet Georgia Brown" Maceo Pinkard, his wife Edna Alexander and Sidney D. Mitchell wrote "Sugar" aka "That Sugar Baby Of Mine" and had it recorded successfully by Ethel Waters in 1946. Ethel was the first African-American to have her own television show and the first to be nominated for a Prime Time Emmy.
Vic Damone (Vito Rocco Farinola) revived "Sugar" in 1953 with David Carroll's Orchestra and the Jack Halloran Singers peaking at number thirteen on Billboard. IMDB: "His sister Sandy was shot to death at the North Miami Beach bingo hall in Sky Lake Mall. They both worked there in the mid-1980s. During a typical night at the bingo, Abby, her ex husband came into the bingo parlor on his night off, and asked her to come out into the hall to talk to her. He pulled out a gun and shot her, then himself. Sandy and Vic's mother was playing bingo at the time."
