Rivers Cuomo sings "Buddy Holly" (Rivers Cuomo) from "Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo". Rivers was convinced by producer Ric Ocasek to include a studio version on his group's initial album. When Rivers was a child his father nicknamed him Weezer.
Weezer's (lead vocalist Rivers Cuomo, Brian Bell, Matt Sharp and Patrick Wilson) first LP was the top twenty "The Blue Album" in 1994. The single "Buddy Holly" was released on what would have been Buddy's 58th birthday. The song peaked on the following Billboard charts: Alternative at number two, Mainstream number seventeen, Radio Songs number eighteen and Mainstream Rock number thirty-four. In my mind Billboard has way too many "charts" and categories become diffused. In Canada this peaked at number six.
