Some knew him as Naomi Neville, Allen Orange, Clarence Toussaint and Al Tousan. New Orleans iconic producer, pianist, arranger, singer, songwriter Allen Toussaint sings his composition "Happiness" with the vocal backing of Bonnie Raitt and Etta James. Most of Allen's worldly possessions including his home and recording studio were lost in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina.
The Pointer Sisters (lead vocalist June Pointer with Anita and Ruth) top twenty 1978 album "Energy" included "Happiness". Studio musicians of note, David Paich is on acoustic piano, Waddy Wachtel plays lead guitar, Jeff Porcaro on drums and James Newton Howard is on clavinet. When the single was released in 1979 it peaked at number thirty on Billboard.
