A prominent member of Nashville's A Team; in 1960 Floyd Cramer wrote and played "Last Date" using his slip note style. The instrumental reached number two on the Top One Hundred and number eleven Country. "Last Date" was kept out of the top spot by Elvis Presley's "Are You Lonesome Tonight" with Floyd playing piano.
Later that year Skeeter Davis (Mary Frances Penick) issued the vocal version "My Last Date (With You)" (Davis - Bryant - Cramer) peaked at number five Country and number twenty-six pop. This track with Floyd as a session player is from the LP "Here's The Answer". Skeeter was half the duo The Davis Sisters with Betty Jack Davis. They were not related and were famous for their 1953 hit and first single "I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know".
