Written especially for the 1932 Cotton Club Parade was "I've Got The World On A String" (Harold Arlen - Ted Koehler). The annual Cotton Club series was in Harlem, New York where the standard was introduced by Cab (Cabell) Calloway's Orchestra with Cab singing himself.
Frank Sinatra moved to Capitol Records the same year he recorded "I've Got The World On A String" for the first time teamed with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. This was the popular version of the tune and in 1953 it peaked at number fourteen on Billboard. FYI Nelson Riddle's middle name was "Smock" and with a name like Smock you gotta be good!
