Britney Spears' producer asked Sweden's Max Martin to meet Britney in New York and write a few songs for her debut album. Britney flew to Stockholm in April of 1998 to record a major portion of the LP. One of those tracks was "Hit Me Baby One More Time" (Max Martin). Originally it was turned down by TLC and others but Britney saw the potential. Obvious concerns about the "hit me" lyric resulted in the revision. This is the demo.

"... Baby One More Time" was not only Britney Spear's debut single but was also the title of her first album. The single was produced by the songwriter and Rami Yacoub. It became the top selling release for the year 1999 in the U.K. while sitting atop the Canadian and Billboard pop charts. Millions of copies were sold throughout the world. The album went at least fourteen times platinum and topped the charts in many countries including the U.S.
