Written and performed in 1927, "I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover" (Mort Dixon - Harry M. Woods) was a number two hit for Nick Lucas (Lucinese). It was Nick who introduced "Tiptoe Through The Tulips". Wikipedia "Lucas became friends with Tiny Tim, who considered him an inspiration and who borrowed "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" as his own theme song. Lucas sang the song with him when he married Miss Vicki on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson on December 17, 1969."
It was 1948 when "I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover" was revisited by singer, saxophonist and bandleader Art Mooney and His Orchestra with vocal ensemble as his first big hit when it topped the charts for months, selling more than a million copies. The banjo is played by Mike Pignatore who was once a member of The Paul Whiteman Orchestra. The issue was actually a B side to "The Big Brass Band From Brazil". Many will remember the melody from Looney Tunes.
