The 1998 animated film "The Prince Of Egypt" had Sally Dworsky and Michelle Pfeiffer singing the original "When You Believe" (Stephen Schwartz). This is from the soundtrack. Singer, songwriter Sally Dworsky acted and/or sang in The Wizard, The Lion King, The Cutting Edge, Mulan and Shrek. Sally's brother Richard was a regular band member on Garrison Keillor's live radio show "A Prairie Home Companion".
Additional music and lyrics were added for the soundtrack by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to be performed under the closing credits. The song was on Whitney's "My Love Is Your Love" and Mariah's LP "#1's". The single reached number three Adult Contemporary and number fifteen on the Top One Hundred while reaching higher positions in many other countries. "When You Believe" (Kenneth Edmonds - Stephen Schwartz) won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1999. Wikipedia " Prior to their performance of the song that night, Schwartz left Babyface's (Kenneth Edmonds) name off the nomination submission sheet. He felt that because the additions Babyface added to the song were not featured in the actual film version, he did not deserve writing credits."
