Sam Cooke (Cook) released "Cupid" (Sam Cooke) in 1961 and the single peaked at number seventeen on the Billboard Top One Hundred, number twenty on the R&B chart and top ten in the U.K. Sam was a charter member of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, for what that may be worth.
Tony Orlando (Cassavitis) and Dawn (Thelma Hopkins and Joyce Wilson) covered "Cupid" reaching number two Adult Contemporary and number twenty-two pop in 1976. This was the opening track (without the glitch) on the LP "To Be With You".
