This is the 1928 recording by Nat Shilkret and The Victor Orchestra featuring the vocal talents of Lewis James performing "Thinking Of You" (Bert Kalmar - Harry Ruby) from the 1927 Broadway show "The Five O'Clock Girl". This post is edited to include the vocal. The team of Kalmar and Ruby gave us "Who's Sorry Now", "Three Little Words", "Nevertheless" and "I Want To Be Loved By You".
In 1950 "Thinking Of You" was included in the biopic of the composers. "Three Little Words" starred Fred Astaire and Red Skelton. Don Cherry issued "Thinking Of You" that year and reached number four on Billboard with his first hit single. Don was a top amateur golfer and tied with Ben Hogan in the 1960 U.S. Open just four strokes behind the winning Arnold Palmer.
