The 1977 album "The Idiot" was Iggy Pop's (James Osterberg) debut solo effort and includes David Bowie on toy piano, saxophone and keyboards during the "China Girl" (David Bowie - Iggy Pop) session. Wikipedia: "Once I hit junior high in Ann Arbor, I began going to school with the son of the president of Ford Motor Company, with kids of wealth and distinction. But I had a wealth that beat them all. I had the tremendous investment my parents made in me. I got a lot of care. They helped me explore anything I was interested in. This culminated in their evacuation from the master bedroom in the trailer, because that was the only room big enough for my drum kit. They gave me their bedroom."
David Bowie (Jones) issued "China Girl" on the 1983 album "Let's Dance". The single peaked at number ten on Billboard. That's Stevie Ray Vaughn on guitar. David Bowie died in January of 2016. Wikipedia: "Following Bowie's death, fans gathered at impromptu street shrines. At the mural of Bowie in his birthplace of Brixton, south London, which shows him in his Aladdin Sane character, fans laid flowers and sang his songs. Other memorial sites included Berlin, Los Angeles, and outside his apartment in New York. After news of his death, sales of his albums and singles soared. Bowie had insisted that he did not want a funeral, and according to his death certificate he was cremated in New Jersey on 12 January."
