Fittingly released on the Paramount Records label, The Paramount Singers with the traditional gospel song "When All The Saints Go Marching In" from it's first known recording in 1923. The melody is traditionally used as a dirge during a New Orleans funeral march to a cemetery. After the internment, the bands play the more upbeat style.
There's nothing positive you can say about Louis Armstrong that hasn't already been uttered. Louis topped the charts in 1938 with "When The Saints Go Marching In", a song he had been playing since he was a child. Many have recorded this song but the Satchmo version still stands alone!
