Randy Sparks sings the original "Today". Randy founded The New Christy Minstrels and The Back Porch Majority.
In 1961 Randy Sparks was the spark behind the ten member group The New Christy Minstrels who sang "Today" for the Glenn Ford film "Advance To The Rear" and it was the title of their 1964 LP and single. The single peaked at number seventeen on the Top One Hundred and number four on the A.C. chart. Hundreds have been members of The Minstrels including Kenny Rogers, Gene Clark, Keith Barbour, Barry McGuire, Karen Black, Mike Settle, Jerry Yester, Kim Carnes and Larry Ramos.
