In 1961 Tony Orlando (Cassavitis) was first to issue "Halfway To Paradise" (G. Goffin - C. King). Note the "J. Goffin" on the original label is "G"erry Goffin. Tony peaked at number thirty-nine on Billboard and a decade later lead the successful group Dawn. In between time Tony was a producer and vice-president of CBS Records.
Bobby Vinton covered "Halfway To Paradise" in 1968 and got to number twenty-three on the Top One Hundred. The single was on next year's LP "I Love How You Love Me". If you ever meet him ask Bobby his opinion of his stay at Epic Records where he supplied them with a ton of hits.
