Paul Williams issued "Out In The Country" (Paul Williams - Roger Nichols) in 1972 on his album "Life Goes On". Paul played the lead in Brian DePalma's wonderful 1974 film "Phantom Of The Paradise" and was Virgil in the 1973 hit "Battle For The Planet Of The Apes". He has made appearances in the motion pictures "Baby Driver", "Smokey And The Bandit", "The Muppet Movie" and "Bugsy Malone".
The Three Dog Night (Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, Cory Wells, Mike Allsup, Jimmy Greenspoon, Joe Schermie and Floyd Sneed) version of "Out In The Country" was released in 1970 from the LP "It Ain't Easy" which also contains Randy Newman's "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)". The tune reached number eleven on the AC chart and number fifteen on the Top One Hundred.
