Smiley Lewis (Overton Amos Lemons) recorded "Blue Monday" (D. Bartholomew) in 1954. His nickname came from the fact that he didn't have many front teeth. The musician died of stomach cancer in 1966, just days before a benefit concert organized by Dave Bartholomew.
The late Fats (Antoine) Domino's "Blue Monday" (D. Bartholomew - A. Domino) was used in the 1956 Jayne Mansfield movie "The Girl Can't Help It". The single reached number five pop and one on the R&B charts. This is on the 1957 LP "This Is Fats". Wikipedia: "In the 1980s, Domino decided he would no longer leave New Orleans, having a comfortable income from royalties and a dislike of touring and claiming he could not get any food that he liked anywhere else. His induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and an invitation to perform at the White House failed to persuade him to make an exception to this policy".
