Leadbelly (Huddie Ledbetter) seems to be responsible for much of The American Songbook and here is yet another example from 1939. "On A Monday" (Leadbelly) was adapted from another Leadbelly song called "Yallow Women's Door Bells". Leadbelly aka Lead Belly was known as "The King Of The Twelve String Guitar".

Johnny Cash cut "I Got Stripes" (Charles Williams - Johnny Cash) in 1959. The single, from the album Old Golden Throat, hit number five Country and entered the pop top forty. Co-author Charlie Williams also co-composed "500 Miles Away From Home" and was a noted Nashville radio personality, publisher and actor.
