Van (Ivan) Morrison was part of the Irish group "Them" ("Here Comes the Night", "Baby, Don't Go") and composer of "Gloria" which became a hit for the American band "Shadows of Knight". As a solo act Van hit with the top ten "Brown Eyed Girl". Call his efforts R&B, Celtic or whatever, one must admit his influence on popular music is indelible. "Have I Told You Lately" is from the 1989 lp "Avalon Sunset". The single was issued the same year, hitting the top forty and winning a Grammy.

The excellent Rod Stewart version hit the top five in 1993. His rendition was nominated for an Grammy the next year.
